Programming

Why does the KNX device not allow for its programming via the bus?

  • Make sure that you use the correct application version. To do this, check if the item number of your device matches the item number of the application. As a rule, the application lists the item number of white devices. If your device is a different colour but the same type, choose the white item number regardless.

  • Make sure that there is bus and auxiliary voltage. This must be checked by an electrician.

  • If a line/area coupler is used: Set it to ‘forward’.

  • Assign an address to your device. The factory default is 15.15.250/255. The address of the device must not be the same as that of the programming interface.
Serial number

Where can I find the serial number of Elsner products? How do I read the serial number?

  • The serial number is located on the product and is composed of the date and an ascending two-digit number: DDMMYYXX.

  • In addition, the serial number is on the product packaging as a barcode in the following form: 0 0YYYYM MDDXXY. The first two digits (0 0) and the last digit (Y) are not part of the serial number.

  • For KNX products, the encrypted serial number can also be read out via the ETS: To do this, right-click on the corresponding product and then click on Info -> Deviceinfo; the device info is read from the device and a field appears in the history on the right-hand side with the name of the product and below it "Device info: Finished", click on the small field "open in a new window" to the right of this text. The device info window appears together with the encrypted serial number, which can be decrypted by our technical support. Or mark the corresponding product with the left mouse button and click on Properties -> Settings at the right edge; the settings window appears together with the encrypted serial number, which can be decrypted by our technical support.
