Azimuth, not guesswork: How professionals control shading

News of 12 June 2025

Let solar energy in. Keep the sun out. Automatically.

Automated shading is one of the most effective ways to reduce cooling loads in summer and heating loads in winter – provided the system doesn’t rely on fixed schedules, but instead reacts to sun position, brightness and indoor temperature.

That’s exactly what our KNX weather stations do – with built-in logic designed specifically for façade control.

Control is based on the sun’s azimuth and elevation, including threshold logic and temperature lockout. This means shading remains inactive when solar gains are welcome in winter, and activates reliably during intense sunlight.

On this page, we present three products that are ideal for a wide range of projects – from single-family homes to commercial buildings. Find out more below!
