DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is a globally standardised communication protocol that is defined in the IEC 62386 standard. It was specially developed for the control of lighting systems and enables digital communication between luminaires, control devices and other components in a lighting network.

In a DALI network, each luminaire is given its own address, allowing it to be controlled and monitored individually. This allows you to control the light intensity, colour temperature and other parameters quickly and easily.

DALI plays a central role in building automation, as it enables the seamless integration of lighting systems into modern building management systems. DALI offers a number of advantages:

• Individual lighting control: each luminaire or group of luminaires can be controlled independently. This allows you to flexibly adapt your lighting to different room uses and times of day.
• Energy efficiency: By dimming or switching off your lighting as required with the help of DALI, you can optimise your energy consumption. To do this, you can link your DALI system with sensors, for example, to react to presence or daylight and adjust the lighting accordingly.
• Monitoring and diagnostics: With DALI, you can monitor lighting systems remotely. Defective luminaires or operating states can be detected and reported automatically, making maintenance easier and minimising downtime.
